An IT / Management Consulting house advises clients on non-product specific, pure business issues. IT Strategy, Change Management. Productivity Improvement, Activity Based Costing of an IT Department. Management issues in IT. They produce recommendations with include goals and projects recommended to achieve these goals. They are often called on to assist with project management of their recommendations in order to closely monitor the results. They never recommend a specific IT product to achieve goals, rather a selection form different vendors. Needless to say people skills are important.e.g:

IT Auditor
