2 Types of DBA :
1) Application DBA supports mainly the application developers in terms of creation of tables, views and database design considerations. Also required to provide inputs as to performance and tuning of the application. He is also often required to be responsible for change control. User administration and permissions i.t.o. application parameters.
2) Data Analysts convert databases during migration from one to another. This involves script writing, planning and preparation of migration activities.
3) Physical DBA focusses more on thetechnical aspects of the database like installation, performance and tuning, uptime, software versions. He therefore also needs to know the underlying operating system like Windows or UNIX / LINUX. e.g:
ORACLE DBA
SQL SERVER DBA etc.
